Are there other metalcore bands that love Christmas like August Burns Red?

The Pennsylvania Act releases a holiday single almost every year, and 2021 is no exception. On Friday (November 12), August Burns Red shared an instrumental song "Santa Claus Came to Town".

This song turns a winter classic into a metal fueled by guitars, a method that the band led by Jake Luhrs has improved since they played "Ode to Bells" in 2008. In fact, August Burns Red accumulated enough Christmas numbers that they released the entire Christmas album, Sleddin' Hill in 2012. But this did not stop them from swinging more holiday covers.

The newer August Burns Red seasonal tradition is the Christmas Burns Red concert held by the band in their hometown of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This year's concert will be held at Freedom Hall in Lancaster on December 29, with support from Zao, Lorna Shore and Varials in Texas in July.

ABR's latest original song "Vengeance" came out last month. Their album Guardians was released last year and Guardian Sessions EP was released in April. Recently, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of their 2011 album Leveler, ABR re-recorded this effort and conducted an annual tour.

"Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" (the original stylization) was written by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie around the 1930s. The banjo player Harry Reser recorded its earliest recorded version in 1934. The 1970 stop-motion Christmas TV special "Santa Claus Comes to Town" showed the continued popularity of this song. To this day, it is still the standard for holidays.
