San Diego-based Juiced Bikes has just officially launched its new electric moped Juiced Scorpion X, which aims to replace the original Juiced Scorpion and provide a number of key upgrades.

This new model debuted last week and showcased several new improvements to the original Juiced Scorpion moped-style electric bike.

The manufacturer’s suggested retail price of Juiced Bikes is US$2,199, and Scorpion X will be launched at a promotional price of US$1,999.

Scorpion X improves on the original Juiced Scorpion by increasing the power, speed and range of the bike.

As Tora Harris, founder and CEO of Juiced Bikes, explained:

"With Scorpion X, we really want to build a more powerful'basic' electric bike. The original Scorpion was an amazing bike, but I think the important thing is to raise it to a higher level and provide a bigger Power, torque, riding range and better riding experience. By taking things to the next level, especially by developing our brand new custom Bafang 750 watt RetroBlade motor, riders will have a crazy riding experience, and we are extremely proud of this ."

The original motor previously found in the basic model Scorpion has now been replaced by Juiced's RetroBlade motor, which was custom-designed with Bafang.

The motor is also used in high-power Juiced HyperScorpion and Juiced HyperScrambler 2 electric bicycles.

This motor helps increase the speed of Scorpion X to 28 mph (45 km/h), which is the highest speed permitted by law for category 3 electric bicycles.

Bicycles can also be limited to 20 mph (32 km/h) to comply with Class 2 electric bicycle regulations.

Although the previous Juiced Scorpion model had a top speed of 28 mph, we found in our tests that we often fell below this speed. The new RetroBlade motor upgrade in Scorpion X is expected to help increase the power and speed of the updated model.

With pedal assistance, Scorpion X's cruising range has also been increased to a maximum of 55 miles (88 kilometers).

The higher endurance range is attributed to a 15% increase in battery capacity, increased to 52V and 15Ah battery packs (from 13Ah), with a total power of 780 Wh.

Scorpion X is also equipped with HyperScorpion's super loud horn, safety key switch and RelayRack at the rear.

It continues to provide the same stepping frame design, full suspension setup, dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes, high seat adapters for long-legged riders (standard seats can support riders who are at least 5'2"), super Headlights and puncture-resistant street tires.

The Juiced Scorpion series of electric bicycles are often imitated, but they are still regarded as one of the best choices in the market for high-quality structures that are close to motorcycle-grade designs.
