Trooper 6’s four-person helicopter team found a ship with three hunters and two rescuers on board shortly before 9:20pm. Due to the Trooper 6’s crew being low on fuel, they requested additional assistance to evacuate the crew from the air. 1.

The two pilots flying the Trooper 1 placed the helicopter 100 feet above the hunters and rescuers. The helicopter crew put a rescue basket on the side of the ship. Everyone on the ship climbed in and was hoisted into the helicopter. All five people on the ship were successfully carried on the plane and taken to the National Guard Armory in Havre de Grace, where they were assessed for hypothermia.

A US Coast Guard helicopter in Atlantic City, New Jersey was also dispatched to the scene, but the state police helicopter crew completed the rescue operation before arriving.
